  • A large decks, patio, and garden areas complement the living space. A gas grill and chairs on the decks and patio further enhance the usability of this unique home. The house sits on a corner lot (Centennial Ave. and Denver St.) The paved driveway will accommodate 3 vehicles outdoors plus the garage will accommodate 2 vehicles. The yard is sunny in front and is cool and shady in the back.

  • The greatroom architecture combines kitchen, dining room, living room and sunroom. The architecture utilizes materials with high thermal gain and natural convection properties for optimal heat gain and uniform circulation throughout the three-level living area. The interior design incorporates several elements recycled from local history. Beams used in the vaulted ceilings were transported to the building site from a local historic site and the wood floors were obtained from a local gymnasium that was built in 1904. The huge sunroom doors were obtained from the famous Bullock Hotel building on Deadwood's Historic Main Street. The entire structure is bermed into the steep hillside of aspen, oak, ash, ponderosa pine, birch, and woodbine to the north and west to enhance thermal efficiency, aesthetics and privacy.

    First Floor Bedroom: Bed: 1 queen. If you like a cool, quite place to sleep, this is the room for you! The ground floor bedroom is contained within a private apartment that has interior access to the whole house and its own private entrance.

  • 3rd Floor Master Bath: The master bedroom and bunkhouse share the bathroom. The master bathroom has a 6' claw foot tub, stall shower and a private view of the slopes of Mr. Roosevelt. Be sure to travel to the top of the mountain to see the stone monument to President Theodore Roosevelt - Friendship Tower.

    2nd Floor Bath: The bathroom has a large stall shower, heated floor and a view that often contains grazing deer and turkeys!

    1st Floor Bath: The bathroom has a walk-in shower and heated floor with private access from the bedroom.

  • With nearly 4,200 square feet of floor area, there is always plenty of room to spread out in this incredibly comfortable living space. A 1st floor entrance providing a private entrance to the apartment which includes a second fridge and range is handy.

    There is cable TV in the 1st floor and 2nd floor living rooms and all bedrooms except the bunkhouse room.

    The laundry area is on the 1st floor and includes two washers and two dryers!

  • The 12-foot-high doors to the sunroom were salvaged from the Bullock Hotel. Hardwood flooring used throughout was rescued from the old Newel High School. Banks of six foot tall windows and skylights upstairs and down transfer the marvelous views indoors for a bright and airy atmosphere.

  • The enormous kitchen with lots of counter space for serving food and beverages make this home an ideal setting. In the kitchen you'll find all the pots and pans, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, dishes, glasses and silverware you'll need. There's a gas stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, blender, coffeemaker, crockpot, toaster, waffle iron. We stock toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen garbage bags, large trash bags, matches and coffee filters. For limited condiments you will find salt, pepper, spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, powdered creamer, ground coffee, teabags and ketchup. You may choose to supply your own ziplocs, sandwich bags, paper plates & cups, plastic forks and disposable Tupperware for food storage.

    The large island in the kitchen is a great place for informal gatherings and dining as well as for extra storage. The oak dining table is cozy for breakfast or for games and puzzles.

    The kitchen desk is equipped with digital voice telephone service (free unlimited nationwide calling) and with high speed cable internet service.

    There is a second kitchen in the 1st floor apartment.

  • The Black Hills are beautiful in any season! You'll often see the deer and turkey that come down to get crabapples.
